A Personal Vision of Colour, Nature, and Joy

Bringing Happiness to Your Walls

I believe art should bring joy to the most important place in the world, our homes. My paintings are an expressive celebration of colour, light, and the simple beauty I find in the New England seasons and our home and garden. Every piece is a reflection of my perspective, crafted to share a sense of happiness and delight with you.

The Creative Process

My process is a dialogue with the canvas. Starting with an expressive acrylic underpainting, I build up layers and texture using a palette knife and oils. It’s an organic journey, aiming to capture a feeling or impression rather than a literal depiction.

I don't sketch beforehand, trusting each painting to evolve organically. The result is a piece that is as much about the journey as it is the final destination, filled with energy, depth, and character.

  • We love the pink and green of the peonies. The painting is one of the first things I see when I wake in the morning. It brings peace and beauty to my day. Thank you Fiona, beautiful work.

  • My Mum’s paintings beautifully capture  the essence of country life.  She has a wonderful gift for bringing the simplest things to life with every brushstroke revealing their beauty with so much colour. The paint’s so thick and delicious you could almost spread it on toast (but probably shouldn’t). My walls are filled with her gorgeous art and the happiest memories – and I’m constantly dreaming up what I can get her to paint for me next!

  • Being a lover of pink and flowers, I was totally captivated by this painting the moment I laid eyes on it. It evokes such a sense of vibrancy and joy for me. Fi manages to bring the essence of the flower onto the canvas that illustrates the beauty of the peony.

  • I commissioned Fi to paint a canola crop from where my partner lived near Moree as a gift for his birthday. Fi only had a photo to go by – she captured the mood of the canola paddock on the Western Plains perfectly. We love the painting.

  • I commissioned Fi to paint my husband's childhood home as a gift for his 30th birthday. This was the home he grew up in, filled with so many special memories. I wanted something truly sentimental that he could always look at and be reminded of those wonderful times. Fi worked from just a few photos and captured every detail perfectly, even down to the colour scheme. It was done with so much love and care. We are so grateful to have such a beautiful piece of Fi's art hanging proudly in our home.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between an oil and an acrylic painting?

I often start my paintings with an acrylic underpainting because it dries very quickly, allowing me to build the initial composition and colours. Then, I switch to oil paints for the final layers. Oils have a longer drying time, which allows for more blending, rich textures, and luminous depth that is perfect for my expressive style.

Do you take commissions?

Yes, I do! I love working with clients to create a custom piece that holds special meaning for them. I can work from a photograph you provide, transforming a favorite landscape or still life into my expressive, signature style. You can learn more and inquire about commissions on my contact page.

How are your paintings framed?

My works are professionally framed in either natural or white oak. This minimalist style complements my vibrant, textured paintings and ensures they will look beautiful in any home environment.
